Vroom

I have finally said goodbye to my beloved for the final time. So many memories of so many places and people over the years, but I suppose, as they say, all good things come to an end. Of course, I'm talking about the VW Polo, the best car I've had to date (see previous blog). Been thinking about all the things I've done in the past 3 years with that motor, and it's quite mind boggling. Several wonderful holidays, trips to Aber, trips to Ynyslas and Nant-y-moch, up to North Wales, Cirencester, Cardiff, Norfolk, the Isle of Wight, Avebury, East London, Southampton, Portsmouth, Langley, Reading, Slough, Exeter, Birmingham, Dudley, Sutton Coldfield, Tonbridge, Kingsbridge, Herongate, Brentwood, The City of London, Manchester, Chorley, Wigan, Preston, Emsworth, Chichester, Kingston, Brighton, Gatwick, Heathrow, the list goes on and on. So, not just a car I've returned, but a box full of memories. And I'm not mentioning the rude things.

Still, I've now got insured on a very knackered, very old Honda Civic in sky blue with leaky sunroof and no stereo, which I hope will at least get me to work and back for the two weeks or so until I pick up the new Peugeot which, according to the dealership, hasn't been built yet (hence the delay). Worth the wait for a brand spanking new car, I reckon. Should be bonza, strewth.

Aside from motoring intrigue, work is slightly dull as I've been far too efficient and timetabled everything so well that there are hardly any clashes or errors, thereby leaving me with little to do all day other than fine-tune the spring term timetable, which is what I am doing at the moment. I've also been spending money, which I shouldn't. Bought a new mouse (although I doubt if it'll turn up), and three books from Amazon, which arrived today. Books are: One I can't remember, Plato - "The Republic" and Wu Ch'eng-En - Monkey. Monkey should be amusing as it is the 16th century manuscript on which the popular TV series "Monkey" (shocker) was based on. And I loved that.
