There is nothing worse than having nothing at all to do. I am so terribly bored and I made the mistake of having a banana for breakfast so I am terribly hungry too. Madness, one does not eat, one is not hungry. One eats, one wishes to eat more. Such is the way of the world.

Just been reading on the BBC about Mr. Gates and Microsofts legal wranglings. I find it most amusing to hear of Mr. Gates wringing his hands and saying "It's not just Microsoft you'll hurt if you break up windows, it's the World of Business" *wring wring, simper simper*. I shall estimate the damage caused thusly:
1. 2 hours to install & configure linux on a desktop PC. Mitigated but the fact that most Windows2000 installs take just as long if not longer, and OS upgrades/service pack installs are performed as a matter of course.
2. 2 hours crossover training to teach users how to run, say, KDE desktop environment which is to all intents identical to winX.
3. 2 hours office application training (Sun Staroffice or similar).
4. -2 hours per week saved from no longer faffing about with Exchange servers and using something sensible like bsd.
...loads more but you get the point. Even if Microsoft were to be "destroyed" as Mr. Gates puts it, the world of business would not collapse instantaneously into a state of chaos and instability, rather it would dust itself off, install an alternate OS, spend a short while re-training its staff (with the added bonus of increasing the computer literacy of staff members) and probably find itself better off. Just do it, I say.
